14 Weeks, 1 Day

It was a sleepless night, but we got up early and were able to meet to doctor this morning - she opened up the office just to get us in, so we were super thankful!!

The baby looks completely fine - he was completely upside down and moving his arms and legs. There was a good strong heartbeat. Doc found two Subcortical (??) hemmorhages which can slightly increase the risk for miscarriage but at 14 weeks, I am probably okay. The cervix was nice and closed and the baby looked nice and cozy in the uterus.

I probably overreacted last night with the amount of freaking out and crying that happened. I'm learning quickly that any amount of tears during this pregnancy = wicked headache. And LOTS of tears like last night (or two weeks ago when I stupidly watched the movie "Up") = migraine. In the wake of Sandyhook, there have been lots. and lots. and lots. of headaches in the past week. I can't read one sentence of an article or hear one clip of news about it without losing it.

Thanks so much for the support and positive vibes and prayers. The doc said I can expect several more days of spotting but that as long as I don't have any major cramping (and I haven't had any cramping since yesterday afternoon), and the spotting stays brownish, it can be attributed to the SCH.

  3. So glad that everything checked out alright! A strong heartbeat and the fact that the baby was moving around is wonderful and reassuring that he/she is doing great :) Hopefully the spotting will finish up and the subcortical hemmorages won't cause anymore scares or discomfort. And, by the way, your reaction to the spotting sounds like what any of us who have experienced IF would have done...when I had my spotting I was terrified and more hysterical than I have ever been about anything else in my 29 years of life! Hope you can enjoy the holidays knowing that your baby is safe and healthy!

  4. HUGE relief and what a rock star doctor to open a closed clinic for you guys! I had a SCH from 6 to 8 weeks that resolved on its own. My doctor had me off all exercise and on pelvic rest and instructed me to drink plenty of fluids, which I already do. It was completely gone by my 10 week appointment. Hopefully yours will just be a swift visitor. Rest of sweet mama and try to keep some of those tears at bay!

  6. I just found your blog and am so happy (and encouraged!) to hear of your BFP! I, too, have premature ovarian failure, with a fairly elevated FSH. My e-mail is aubrey.blair@gmail.com. I'd love to hear some more details about what you might have done to have gotten your BFP... anything at all. Do you think the DHEA had anything to do with it? Congratulations again. And thank you for the hope that this can work for high FSH'ers!

  7. What a relief that everything is going strong! I really enjoy reading your blog and have my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly! I try not to hold out hope that I will be one of the POFers who gets pregnant on their own, but your blog makes me feel like it is possible! Thanks for posting your journey!!
